For info, on my side I had never set foot in the spider wood in any previous bg game before, it's an optional area which can be entirely missed !
Also I hadn't been in lars wood this time, just found the right group of bandits in the 1st wood.
And missed the info from Walahnan at the bandit camp that there was a slug nearby (we arrived with the bandit group so that's probably the reason !).
Anyway this post was really useful !
