It's always created there, there is no condition that triggers it, so there is a chance you were there before you were asked to find the item, and perhaps sold it? There are also other, original items in that crate, so check the last item in that container.
I don't think there is any possible incompatibility as it's a fairly simple thing that doesn't clash with any other mod.
