mausFeedback, Bugs und Typos
#91
Soo I just finished BG1 and SoD, with this mod installed, and I decided that maybe I will give a feedback about it:

1) Circles of Interest: an interesting quest, easy to find if you do all of the location, step by step, revealing whole map. 8/10

2) Shadows Below the Friendly Arm Inn: I really enjoyed this one. The fact that it added a bit more layers to the Bhaal story in the game, a bit more lore, and frankly, some Bhaal followers, was a nice addition to the game. 9/10

3) The Parted Lovers of Ulgoth's Beard: easy, nice, but late in game quest. It was fun to fight some undead pirates. And when I finally got to this part, I learnt why there is a perfume seller in the Friendly Arm Inn. Big Grin 7/10

4) The Bone Collector and the Missing Halfling: another good one. Another part of a Bhaal followers story. And this one ties nicely to your IWD mods, which I really enjoyed in my playthrough. Dandjelion was my main tank, so I was able to enjoy his story. He met his demise in BG, sadly, but still, a nice homage to his character. 9/10

5) Eight-Legged Misery under the ruins of Ulcaster School: nice addition to the Ulcaster School. This area needed more content in the base game, and thankfully you provided that. I enjoyed the story, had fun playing it. 8/10

6) Amber Flower: short, easy quest. The flower is pretty missable (I found it by an accident) so it might be frustrating (like finding belladonna for Neera in SoD...). 6/10

7) Stronghold and its Shadow: pretty neat addition to the Gnoll Stronghold story. I enjoy everything dark, gloomy, and mysterious so it was nice to play through this mod. The helmet made out of the skull is also a nice addition. 8/10

8) Kobolds Dream Too: small, but really enjoyable quest. I was positively surprised when I met the kobold merchant in the SoD (and when he sold me that Netherese staff... pretty good item!). 7/10

9) The Midnight Dog: another short mission, which just expand the area of Gullykin. It's nice to find some more quests there. The place was pretty barren in the original BG. 6/10

10) Big Appetite in small Gullykin: I found all of the ingredients by an accident. xD So before I got to the Gullykin, I already had all of them. Nice, short quest, adding some flavor (xD) to the game. 6/10

11) Fungal Friendship: really small encounter, but enjoyable. Puts a new perspective on some stuff in the game and lore. 6/10

12) Unusual Shards: really fun quest, with a pretty good reward. It might be hard to find all of the shards, those are pretty missable, if you rush through the game, or do not spam click everything around you, like I did. 7/10

13) Disrespected Flowers: nice encounter, expanding bandit camp area. Easy to do, with a neat rewards. Also, nice and alternative purpose for bandit scalps. Especially when Vai leaves for Baldur's Gate. 7/10

14) Skeletal Mother: quick, small quest in the Candlekeep. I wish that there was a bit more lore around it (yeah I know, old game, limitations and stuff), so I could learn something from this quest. 5/10

15) Beetles, Dreams and an Old Man: probably one of the strangest quests in this mod. I enjoyed the story, even accepted the ending of it. Reward is pretty nice, useful. 7/10

16) Final Rest of Firewine's Soldiers: mini quest, pretty much missable if you do not check the towers on the bridge. Also, there's a bug in which when you exit on of the towers, half of your party is getting kick out of the bridge, on one side of it, where the rest stays on the bridge, near the tower entrance. 5/10

17) Ice and Ore: late game mini quest. I mean, you can pick it up as early as you visit Nashkel for the first time, but can not finish it till later on in the game. Easy to complete, but pretty much missable to gather the special ore. 5/10

18) Into the Manhood / Into the Womanhood: short mini quest in Nashkel. It's nice to see many different dialogue options, to embody the way you want to play your PC. 7/10

19) Snooping Around: really enjoyed this mini quest. It's best to get it early, so you do not miss the book, you will need to complete it (or that you will have to backtrack and look for it). 6/10

20) Carnival and the Missing Brother: mini quest, best to do with a higher lvl party (not at the lvl 1-3), 'cause of the pretty strong enemy. 6/10

21) Cult of the Dargon: fun quest, later on in the story of the game. One pretty strong enemy, which you can 'defeat' in a different way, than to fight it. Nice lore around it, and a pretty neat new 'dungeon' in an existing area. 8/10

22) Apex Predator: mini quest with one enemy to kill. Pretty much doable at the lvl when you reach Cloakwood (if you're not speedrunning, then it might be a bit problematic, but still - doable). 7/10

23) The Echoed Cry: I did this one by an accident, not gonna lie. It's nice that it adds enchanted katan in the BG1 - this is a weapon type that I do miss the most. At least early in the game. Especially when you want to build your character around it, or use Safana as one of your companions. 6/10

24) Friend Like No Other: nice quest in SoD. Neatly tying story of IWD2 and BG - my two favourite games from my childhood. Pretty tough fight, but it was nice to learn something more about Isair and Madae. 9/10

25) Shandraha: realy small encounter. But hey, it's nice to have a safe spot to rest in the wild! 5/10

26) Infesting Light: a really nice addition to the zombie infested farm. Gives the closure to this whole area, also telling us how and why those undead were brought to life. 8/10

27) The Melting Man: another one of the strangest mods from this list. It has a good story, overall. Fast and easy to complete. 6/10

28) Ormyrrs' Peak: really enjoyed this one. Had a blast playing it. Ormyrrs are pretty much talkative. And hey, they 'identify' the buckler for you, so you can use its full potential. Big Grin 9/10

29) Doggy Life, Doggy Death: mini quest, pretty easy to do. Ne location, neatly done. 7/10

30) The Tree of Shades: I really enjoyed the whole concept. The rewards are fun. But remember to visit the tree at least a few times, or at least twice - once the first time, and second time, after a while, so you can get all of the rewards from the conversations with it. 8/10

31) My Very Own Hideout: I always enjoyed the concept of a pocket dimension hideouts (like the shadow dimension in the NwN: Shadows of Undrentide). Pretty usefull. Even if only for item storing, since you do not have the bag of holding. 8/10

32) The Ghost Ship and 33) The Skeletal Captain and His Sons: those two quest are tied together. Both of them have a nice story. It's not something really deep, but gives you another reason to visit some places. The bones of the captains sons are pretty missable if you do not loot everything single thing on your way, so be careful. 7/10

34) The Dungeon of the Carnal Challenges: I really enjoyed this short story in the Undercellar. Also, this mod is a nice expansion to the area, since it was only used in the original game for a main plot, to kill two agents of the Iron Throne. I found a bit buggy part of the convo with Dunstin:

Overall 9/10.

35) The Inactive Golem: really small encounter, early on in the game. But please, do not do it as early as possible, 'cause you will get your whole party wiped. xD 5/10

36) On-Road Encounters: I don't know if I got all of the encounters, but most of them were fun. Especially the one with the barrel. It's nice that you can meet it later on, if you chose a particular dialogue option. 6/10

On the other hand, I've found some bugs:

Crossfate was one of my favourite items in the game, added by your mods. But in the item's description, there is no art for the weapon, as shown below:

I've played SoD for the first time, so I dunno if it's from the game or your mod, but there is a typo in this item's descirption. 'Hald-dragon' instead of 'Half-dragon':

And one more thing! The best part of the SoD, from your mods, for me were two items: Scepter of Arc-Akasha +4, and the addition to that the Tome of Arc-Akasha. Both are really neat, and really powerful. The only downfall for me were the requirements to use the tome. Those are really high if your PC is not a wizard, so none of my companion-wizards could use both of those, to enjoy them to the fullest. Dynaheir used both of them once, when I pumped potions into her. ^^' 10/10, amazing items.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you liked so many of these quests and encounters Smile Many of them are pretty small, yes, but the idea was to add exactly that: small little things here and there to enhance the general gameplay.

Funny thing though:
Quote:22) Apex Predator: mini quest with one enemy to kill. Pretty much doable at the lvl when you reach Cloakwood (if you're not speedrunning, then it might be a bit problematic, but still - doable). 7/10
This isn't fully a "one enemy to kill" quest Smile As the quest giver says: that predator is destroying the balance. However, you may change that without killing the animal. All you need to do it
turn it into a squirrel!
So yep, there's a secret solution here Smile

The bugs aren't huge so they will need to wait a moment, as I have a lot on my plate already...

Hello, on a fresh install with last version (8), I encountered a map bug with Ormyr Peaks and Mountain Cemetery : I went to Ormyr Peaks from Gnoll Fortress, but when I'm either in Ormyr Peaks or Mountain Cemetery, when trying to travel on another map area they all show "Destination unreachable", so I'm stuck on theses two maps.

That's really weird. Will check it out. Until then, use the console to get out of there.

I think it should be fixed now.

I tried to change the Apex into a squirrel, but first it have great saving throws, and when I at last succeed, it was still red and I had to kill it for completing the quest.
Also I tried animal empathy to befriend it but it didn't work, could be a nice alternative for ranger. :-)
Also, for the shards quest, when I activated it in a cave the script didn't completely work
the demon appeared but didn't talk or activate its ability to fight
. In outside it worked perfectly.

It's a bit weird, considering I completed the Apex Predator quest that way last time I played and many finished the shard quest before, not just me. Perhaps these are just some random bugs, something broke the script chain, dunno. Will take another look at these scripts next time I'm updating the mod, though.

Short logical typo: Systria when the HC refuses to accept the quest:
"I'm not a patient man." But she is female Wink
Will take a look at this when I'm updating Shades Smile

I also have Spells Revisions installed, so it could be the culprit.
As for the Shards, I did it 3 or 4 times without issues in the past, but I never tried to activate them in the Wyvern Cave before.
Maybe some Coran's scripts indeed broke the scripts chain.
It's not a big issue, I just wanted to inform you just in case. :-)

By the way, I really like the crossmod interjections between Walahnan and SotSC. Tongue
Sure Smile

I'm glad you're still enjoying it!

Cheers!
Just wondering about Boopgloomrak - Are his specs correct?
  • Level: 1
  • AC: 5
  • HP: 47
  • THAC0: 10
  • # attacks/round: 3

His numbers are night/day compared with Nexlit (Xvart leader):
  • Level: 1
  • AC : 5
  • HP: 28
  • THAC0: 19
  • # attacks/round: 1
Yes, it is an intentional, way more powerful creature that was supposed to be more "primal and wild" -- especially considering he is in possession of something you shouldn't get while your character is of 1st - 3rd level. Consider him a weird, primal / monstrous / mutated xvart. I wanted to add precisely that... especially since there are like 0 interesting xvarts in the game... Nexlit... isn't exactly that.

Furthermore, that is an optional fight, as some other fights I added to the game, and players can go there whenever they want or they can skip it entirely. They simply won't get something powerful if they do that.

Thanks Lava - I love the way you described him!

Just a suggestion -Perhaps include the above to give players a heads-up? Maybe as a [Wisdom] check (similar to the Ranger Barin at the Temple of Helm in Nashkel), or a side comment from Lore-savvy NPCs?
