I kicked out Hommet temporarily (rather, supposed to be temporarily) and cannot talk to him again.

Ah, I think I see the bug! Kicking out and rejoining will be buggy, but you may use CTRL+Q. You need to have the console active, though. Here are the instructions:

It's for BG2EE, but it's the same for IWD EE

Once he's back, it may be a good idea to also use this console command:
